Held during Skandia Cowes Week (3-11 August 2007), an annual world-renowned sailing festival rivaled by none other in Europe, the iShares Cup event will see the Extreme 40 fleet compete alongside some 1000 boats setting the waterfront awash in colour and sound .

The Extreme 40s will compete out of the iShares Cup Race Village in Shepherds Wharf. In addition to the iShares Cup competition (3-5 August) the Extreme 40s will put on several evenings of exhibition racing from 7-9 August off The Green by the Royal Yacht Squadron.

On 3 August the Extreme 40s will race off the Green on 4-5 August the Extreme 40s will race either at Osborne Bay or off Stone Point.

What’s on at the iShares Cup at Skandia Cowes Week…

The Extreme 40 fleet will take part in a ceremonial start to the iShares Cup at Skandia Cowes Week off the Royal Yacht Squadron line on Friday 3 August at 12:10pm.

Visit the racing ‘pit lane’ and see the winning Extreme 40 crew before and after racing, berthed at Shepherds Wharf.

From 7-9 August, catch all the exhibition racing action from the Green next to the Royal Yacht Squadron and hear live commentary from the beach. Racing starts at 1730hrs daily.

A small, but energetic island town, Cowes is known as a Mecca for sailing, attracting numerous sailing events, ‘yachties’ and holidaymakers throughout the year. Its narrow high street is bursting with interesting boutiques, antique shops, chandlers, delicatessens, restaurants and lively pubs and the marina’s jammed of boats in all shapes and sizes.

The Isle of Wight is known for its natural beauty including sandy beaches, white cliffs and undulating hills.

Racing will take place on the Solent, the body of water between the Island and the mainland, which is traditionally one of the best and most competitive places to sail in the UK.

The iShares Cup event will be held alongside Skandia Cowes week, combining daily racing with an extensive social programme to include various live-music acts, outdoor stores and lots of sailing banter.
