About Nick Moloney

Australia’s Nick Moloney made his Extreme 40 debut at the 2007 iShares Cup. Racing BT Better World, Moloney skippered a team of top-level sailors for the season, earning a podium position at two of the four events and finishing third in the overall rankings.
An ambitious and tireless sailor, Moloney has a wealth of experience to his name including campaign experience in inshore, offshore, crewed and solo-sailing disciplines. A former Americas Cup sailor, competing in both 1992 and 1995 Cup Events on Challenge Australia and OneAustralia respectively, Moloney was not content with just inshore racing and has gone on to circumnavigate the globe three times. The first during the Whitbread Round the World Race 1997-1998 on board Toshiba, the second during the Jules Verne Record 2002 on board Maxi-catamaran Orange and the third during the 2004-2005 Vendee Globe.
Showing his passion for extreme sports, Maloney is also the Guinness World Record holder as first and still the only person to Windsurf non-stop and unassisted across the Bass Strait from mainland Australia to the Island State Tasmania in 22 hours 11 minutes.
