(1,082 Days Ago)
Basilica leading in race 2 but have terouble with a kite roll. BT, Team Blue and Holmatro coming round the mark now looking for space on the course. Boats missing each other by centimetres out on the course keeping the hair on your neck upright.
Taking the middle road (1,082 Days Ago)
Sticking to the centre of 200 metre wide ccourse seems to be the best option as these big gusts are unpredictable and can catch you out. Lots of hull flying and as the gennakers unroll lots of fast paced sailing.
(1,082 Days Ago)
Race two has started with the wind still coming down the course in big gusts. Nice starts for Team Blue, Tommy and BT as they aim up the beat.

Swimming at the iShares Cup (1,082 Days Ago)
At a sailing event, especially one with eight high performance boats racing in a small space you expect to see lots of action on the water; however the iShares Cup, Amsterdam is not only delivering the on the water activity but also in the water activity as sailors and support staff have been swimming over the two day event.
Rob Greenhalgh, skipper of Basilica went for a brief swim as a result for his collision with JPMorgan Asset Management. This morning, Holmatro's guest liaison took a quick dip in the ij Haven canal. While watching a fast approaching JPMorgan Asset Management fly a hull in exhibition racing, Reineke Boot jumped off the rib in a moment of panic. She came off the water laughing at her own mistake and looking for a place to dry out her mobile phone.

Leaders around the mark (1,083 Days Ago)
Volvo Ocean Race in the lead with Basilica and a BT sporting a JPMorgan Asset Management sized dent in back corner of her port hull in third.
Bang! (1,083 Days Ago)
JPMorgan prang into the back of BT. Robertson who was on starboard seems to be making sailing a contact sport and one wonders how badly she tried to avoid the collision. Regardless one thinks that BT were in the wrong. The umpires will decide.
Penalty! (1,083 Days Ago)
A rule infringement for Team SLAM finds them with a penalty as a lucky puff up the back of the fleet puts BT and Team Blue back with the fleet. Volvo Ocean Race looking good at the front of the fleet with Holmatro and Basilica fight for second.
And they are off (1,083 Days Ago)

Different strokes for different folks (1,083 Days Ago)
With light winds the order of the day, popping the top batten on the mainsail is proving to be a subject of team work. Each team does it differently with JPMorgan Asset Management committing three of their four to the task while Team Blue opt to put a single man in charge of the job. Racing close to the shore allows the public to observe these differences, to hear the crews communicating on board to to get an inside look at professional athletes doing what they do best.
Snakes and ladders (1,083 Days Ago)
We have quite a race out on the coursem. Really shifty and light winds mean you can win or loose up to two places on a single wind shift alone. JPMorgan Asset Management, Tommy Hilfiger and Holmatro are shuffling positions but Team SLAM and Team Blue are also in the mix. This race could belong to anyone.
At a snail's pace (1,083 Days Ago)
A very split fleet sees BT and Volvo Ocean Race drifting slowly just off the startline while the remaining six boats(JPMorgan Asset Management are back in the pack) half way up the 600 metre beat. They are still close but in Extreme 40 racing mistskes are punished so a bad move, loss of speed can make all the difference.
Racing back to back (1,083 Days Ago)

American acceleration (1,083 Days Ago)
Tommy have stuck their nose in front with helmsman Rady Smyth seeming to enjoy these light conditions. They are keeping a close eye on the chasing pack as Holmatro and BT push to close the very limited gap.
Three at the top (1,083 Days Ago)
Three boats fighting to be the leader of this race. BT are currently holding the advantage but Tommy and Holmatro are not about to sit this one out with Holmatro looking like they have more boatspeed than heer rivals.
Race 2 will again see light winds (1,083 Days Ago)
Another slow race has started with BT claiming the beat start and much needed claer air. Lots of calling for room as the boats approach the canal wall and a penalty is given to Volvo Ocean Race. Notably JPMorgan Asset Management has not started this race as the crew continue to tidy up their boat.
JPMorgan Asset Management afloat (1,083 Days Ago)
Joing the fellt for race 2 is JPMorgan Asset Management. Fresh from the boat surgeon both the boat and her crew are raring to go.
Race 1 decided (1,083 Days Ago)
With more wind at the top of the course the fleet are starting to spread out at the leaders getr speed. Basilica have a convincing win while Team Blue have slipped further down the fleet letting Holmatro take the second place spot. Team Blue settle for third.
Basilica muscle in (1,083 Days Ago)
Basilica seem to have made the right choice and are leading the fleet slowly up the beat.
Split at the gate (1,083 Days Ago)
30 seconds behind Team Blue, Basilica choose to take the opposite gate and had for the other side of the course but with only 200 metres of space between canal walls will different sides make a difference?
Team Blue in the lead (1,083 Days Ago)
A clear start has proven its advantages as Team Blue lead around the top mark followed by fellow Brits Basilica. The boats will have to sail their angles to get to the next mark quickly.
Race One has started in very light winds (1,083 Days Ago)
Race one underway with seven boats on the course with JPMorgan Asset Management sitting this one out as her repairs continue to dry. A very slow start from the fleet with Volvo Ocean Race over early and having to come back and recross the line.
Racing due to start soon (1,083 Days Ago)
Enjoyable VIP guest racing in brilliant sunshine and a light breeze - a gentle introduction to the world of Extreme 40s compared to yesterday's high octane start. The scoring races of day 2 are due to start at 1200 local time .
The frustration of a sailor left on shore (1,083 Days Ago)
ABN AMRO skipper Jonnie Hutchcroft is land-based for the iShares Cup, Amsterdam. Unable to arrange for a crane and transport of his Extreme 40 which is currently in Monaco, the sailor was unable to stay away and is here in Amsterdam as a spectator, a role he is finding difficult. "I've been watching from the side of the canal and this event is just amazing. It's really hard to be standing here and not sailing. I'm just itching to get out there. It's really made me think about the 2008 season and I know I will be doing everything I can to make sure our boat is on the start-line for each event."
Anything for the perfect shot (1,083 Days Ago)
Morning sailing is off to a good start with all teams on the water practicing for scoring racing which starts at 1200, although this morning Team Blue are doing something unsual with their media guests. So far this morning both a photographer and a cameraman have been up their mast dangling nearly 19 metres above the water in search of the perfect angle. Check our image gallery later today to see the results.
Lighter is easier (1,083 Days Ago)
BT Better World skipper, Nick Moloney: "Things are going to be easier for everyone today as the conditions are lighter, it gives you more time to make decisions. We're 4th overall going into day 2 and we'll be keeping an eye on Holmatro and Volvo Ocean Race as they can both make the podium for the overall series, plus Tommy Hilfiger who had problems yesterday. The tables can turn very quickly in this game and Randy Smyth is awesome in the light stuff."
Weather (1,083 Days Ago)
Lighter conditions are forecast for day 2 with a gentle 3-5 knots of breeze from the west throughout the day, then increasing to 8-9 knots from the south-west for tonight's exhibition racing. Less speed might come as a relief to some of the crews as hurtling towards concrete walls on this canal is an adrenalin-rushing experience as the guys found out yesterday.
JPMorgan Asset Management all patched up but will she sail? (1,083 Days Ago)
After a long night of repairs to JPMorgan Asset Management, the boat is just a gel coat short of being ready for launch. The crane is booked for 10am to put the rig back in and the boat in the water.
